The famous Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus has disclosed another data breach that happened last week. The OnePlus’s online store was attacked by notorious hackers where an unauthorized party got access to customer’s personal information.
OnePlus Data Breach Exposed User’s Personal Details
The company made an announcement among its users on Friday and assured that all the payment information and accounts are safe but the other sensitive information like name, contact number, email, and the shipping address has been compromised. With the announcement being made, the company did not reveal the exact number of users who are a part of this data breach.
Ziv C, Staff Member, Security Team, OnePlus, wrote in the company forum “We want to update you that we have discovered that some of our users’ order information was accessed by an unauthorized party,”
Not to forget, the Chinese tech company suffered a similar data breach back in January last year and at that time, 40,000 users were affected. The company explained that there was a loophole in its website but didn’t provide any further details about the scenario.
The users who got their personal information compromised may receive phishing emails or promotional emails.
“Before making this public, we informed our impacted users by email. Right now, we are working with the relevant authorities to further investigate this incident,” said Ziv.
The company further added “We took immediate steps to stop the intruder and reinforce security, making sure there are no similar vulnerabilities. The breach took place last week according to the OnePlus FAQ page and all of those users who are affected have been notified by the company.
