The couple’s disclosure came a year and a half after the Winning Balance author underwent a miscarriage.

She opened up to the media following that month regarding the contended emotions that befell with her pregnancy loss.

“It’s such a puzzling point,” Johnson told the media at the moment. “It’s like, ‘Should I be worried? Is that natural? Did I do something?’”

The athlete went on to tell that her doctor advised her to get over her weakness by declaring, “‘You didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t do this.’”

After the hurt, the Iowa native and East felt both “watched” and “excited” when they found out that they had another little one on the way.

“When we progressed to the first ultrasound and got to see the baby move, it just sort of hit home,” the then-pregnant star told the media.

“I went into, like, shielding mom, like, take care of my body. He went into shielding dad, protective companion, just making sure everything’s OK.”

She unveiled more on her Instagram Story about it that same month. “It is truly scary for us simply because of what transpired last time, yet we’re just praying that this one … that we make it all the way.

We’ll see,” Johnson told her followers. “We’ve proceeded to the doctor now three times and we’ve checked blood work and everything and everything looks great…

I want to be so excited and I am, yet I’m also merely very sober that things can befall, and I’m just kind of catching it one day at a time. I know God’s got a purpose for us.”
